Rules

Participant Dessert Cook-off Rules

 

1.  Cook-offs are a fun competition to encourage development of Dutch oven skills. Un-sportsmanship like behavior will be cause for disqualification.

 

2.  A copy of the dessert submission recipe (3 x 5 card) and a Food Allergy card (available at the event or online) MUST be submitted to the Cook-off Director Lisa Morales with name and age category (adult-18 and over) and youth (17 and under) by 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25th, 2009 to qualify for entry. Cards dropped off late MAY not be judged or qualify for prizes.

 

3.   Desserts to be considered for judging are due to the cook-off director by 3:00pm. at the designated area.  Desserts turned in late MAY be judged but WILL NOT qualify for prizes.

 

4.  Once the dessert is checked in, participants must leave the area.

 

5.  Comments (i.e. “mine’s the best”, “here’s the winner”) regarding your submission will be cause for disqualification.

 

6.  Garnishing should be SIMPLE and complement the dish being presented. This is not a garnishing contest. Garnishes should be edible. Doilies are allowed.

 

7.  All participants MUST practice safe food handling procedures.

 

8.  All cooking in the Dutch oven must take place on cook site; no submissions prepared offsite or away from campsite will be permitted. Dessert must be presented in a Dutch oven or on a Dutch oven lid with a serving utensil.  No additional sauce or condiments may accompany the dessert. 

 

9.  All judging decisions are final. Awards will take 7:00pm April 25th, 2009. Only Campion, Runner-up and Kid’s Champion winners will be announced. Score sheets are available after awards to individual entrants.
